Allowing partial deposits.
Partial deposits are a feature offered on EngineEars that allows your client to pay partially for a project with an initial deposit, and then pay the remaining balance when the project undergoes review or completes.
To enable this feature for your services, just go to your profile and put your profile in Edit Mode from the toggle on your banner. Now click Edit Service and within each service type you will see a toggle switch to allow Partial Deposits.
- Edit Mode: This allows you to edit your profile. Public View shows you what your profile looks like to the public.
- Edit Service: This button allows you to edit your services to be offered how you wish.
When clicking the 'Allow partial payments' toggle to ON, you will also need to specify the client's permissions for the project. This ensures that your client must submit the remaining payment balance before getting access to your finished project deliverables.
Partial payment options:
- Mix/master playback not allowed without payment
- This means the client must first pay the invoice in order to listen to the uploaded mix/master in the project player
- Mix/master playback allowed before payment
- This means the client must first pay the invoice in order to request any revisions to the uploaded mix/master in the project
- Reviews and revisions allowed before payment
- This means the client must first pay the invoice in order to download asset files for the approved mix/master after you have uploaded the final deliverables
Additionally, you will need to specify the minimum deposit initially required for your client to start the project, before they are prompted to submit full payment later for this service. You can set the initial deposit amount required to range between 25%-75% of the project total.
Click the Save button to apply your changes to your service type. If you want to enable partial payments for each of your service types, you will need to enable this partial payment feature for every service type you offer.
For clients who book your services with an initial deposit as partial payment, they will be prompted to pay the remaining invoice at your chosen partial payment step e.g. before they can listen to the finished mix/master, before they can request revisions to the finished mix/master, or before they can download final asset files for the approved mix/master.
Once the client has submitted the payment in full, they will be able to proceed with accessing the project's deliverables.
Every time a client books you for a service where you have partial payments enabled, they will have the option to pay a partial deposit instead of the total payment upfront when booking a project.
TIP: If you only want to offer partial payments on a case-by-case basis, you can generate a custom booking link for your client and use the In Progress Project feature to extend this type of partial payment arrangement to your client instead.
NOTE: the below images show the client's point of view when accessing a partial payment project where the required deposit was initially made when booking the project. If a client opts to pay the full amount upfront when booking the project, they will not encounter any of the paywall limitations below.
Paywall option: Mix/master playback not allowed without payment
Client must first pay the invoice in order to listen to the uploaded mix/master in the project player
Paywall option: Mix/master playback allowed before payment
Client is able to listen to the track in the player and provide time-stamped comments; but must first pay the invoice in order to request a revision or to approve the uploaded mix/master in the project.
Paywall option: Reviews and revisions allowed before payment
Client is able to listen to the track, request revisions and approve the mix/master; but must first pay the invoice in order to download asset files after you have uploaded the final deliverables
This Partial Payment feature enables you to complete your mix/master projects without burdening your client with full upfront payment. Your clients gets to start the project with a deposit and then pays the invoice remainder at the final review or download stage. This lowers the financial barrier for your client to get a project started, while ensuring you get paid for your completed work, a fair exchange for both parties.
