Link Streaming release to existing artist profiles on streaming platforms and stores to avoid duplication and group releases together
When creating a Streaming release to upload your music to streaming platforms and/or digital stores for distribution, you have the option to link the existing Artist profile from Spotify, Apple Music, and/or SoundCloud services to each Artist Name on the release.
Follow the steps below to link existing artist profiles or auto-create new artist profiles for each Main Artist or Featured Artist on your Streaming release.
Tip: You can create a release collaboration, song collaboration, or song feature by adding multiple additional artist collaborators.
First Time Artists
If you do not have any existing Artist Profiles to link, then new artist profile pages will be automatically created on these streaming platforms and/or digital stores for your release upon its distribution. This will display your release on your newly created artist profile page on these platforms and stores.
Existing Artists
If you link existing Artist Profiles, your existing artist profile pages will be linked on these streaming platforms and/or digital stores so that your release will be displayed on your existing artist profile pages upon its distribution and also grouped with prior releases you have distributed in the past. This will also prevent your music release from being grouped together with other artists who have the same artist name. While it is not always possible to have a truly unique artist name or band name, linking existing artist profiles will help you avoid such situations.
Follow the steps below to link existing artist profiles for each Main Artist and/or Featured Artist on your release.
For the artist you want to link existing Artist Profiles to, simply obtain and enter the specific Spotify Artist URL, Apple Artist URL, and/or SoundCloud Artist URL corresponding to the existing artist profile page(s) on these services for each of your artists you want to link for your release.
Main Artists
For the entire release, link profiles for main artists from the Release Details.
For a specific song, link profiles for main artists from the Track Details.
Featured Artists
For a specific song, link profiles for featured artists from the Track Details.
Note:
If you do not link existing Artist Profiles, then new artist profile pages will be automatically created on these streaming platforms and/or digital stores for your release upon its distribution. This could create duplicated profiles for each of your Artist Names on these services and result in confusion for listeners. This may also result in your release being grouped together with other artists who have the same artist name.
