Add or Edit credits on a song
When you use EngineEars to create a Streaming release to upload your music to streaming platforms and/or digital stores, you can assign credit to others who collaborated with you on making the song/album.
Using the Song Credits feature on your Streaming release (or combined Streaming release and Sell Direct release), EngineEars enables you to name multiple people and their roles as credits for each song in your release.
When configuring a Song Credit, you can add the name(s) and role(s) of those who you want to assign credit e.g. songwriter, composer, lyricist, performer, producer, mixing engineer, mastering engineer, recording engineer, bandmates, managers, vocalists, instrumentalists etc.
Song credits that you add will be submitted to all streaming services and digital stores that accept them. However, not all streaming services or digital stores will visibly display every assigned credit or role that you have named and added to the song.
The credits that are most commonly and likely to be visibly displayed across streaming services and stores are the: Performer credit, Composer credit, Lyricist credit, and Producer credit. These credits are typically shown in the credits or lyrics section of the song on the streaming platform or digital store.
When adding credits to a song for the first time, you must first credit the composer and/or lyricist, as this is mandatory for all songs. It is highly recommended that you also credit the performer and producer of the song also (for instance, Apple Music requires all three credits).
Here are the steps on how to add or update the collaborator splits on a song release:
1. Login to your existing Artist account on EngineEars.com
2. In the navigation menu or the profile dropdown menu, click to go to the My Music page.
3. Once on the My Music page, make sure you're in the Releases tab. Then locate the specific release you want to edit. To edit a release, click the "Edit Release" button to goto the Release Details page.
4. On the Release Details page, click on the "Edit Details" button and click the "Edit Release Details" option.
5. You will be asked to confirm your intent to edit the release.
Once you confirm by clicking the "Confirm" button, you will be taken to the release creation flow.
6. Click "Next" button to goto step 2. Then click the Edit button for the specific song you want to edit.
7. In the Track Details panel, scroll to the bottom to the "Song Credits" section where you can make updates to the credits for the song by adding, deleting, or updating Contributors and their Roles.
- Contributors: Add, update, or delete one or more contributor(s) to your song's credits.
- Role: Select the role(s) of your contributor(s) to add credits to your song. Songwriting (Lyricist and/or Composer roles) credits and Producer credits are required.
-
- Name: If the contributor’s Role is Lyricist or Composer, the name entered must be the legal first name and legal last name of the contributor to be properly assigned credit. This makes sure that streaming services and digital stores properly credit and display the Composers and/or Lyricists for each song, especially as it pertains to accurately identifying the legal person entitled to the copyrights and publishing royalty distribution for the song.
- For all other contributor Roles; legal names, stage names or aliases can be entered.

Lyricist = wrote the lyrics for the song
Composer = composed the music for the song (e.g. instrumentals, melodies etc)
Producer = typically brings the creative vision of the song concept to life by guiding or supervising the arrangements, recording, or post-production (editing, mixing, mastering) processes towards final release
A Singer Songwriter is someone who is the performer, composer, and lyricist for the song.

- Additional Contributors: Select the role(s) of your contributor(s) to add their credits to your song. Not all services display every assigned credit with songs.
Make your changes and click the "Save Song" button to apply them, clicking "Next" to proceed through each step.
When all steps are finished, your updated release will be re-submitted for content review before the updates take effect.
Note: You can add or update song credits at any time by following these steps above. If you are unable to Edit Release Details, you will need to submit a Change Request to make a change to the song credits.
