When do I get payouts for my streaming royalties?

Withdraw streaming royalty earnings payouts from streaming platforms and digital stores

After your Streaming release distributed via EngineEars has gone live on streaming platforms and/or digital stores, you may start to accrue royalty earnings for your streams and/or purchases of your released music. This article covers how to see and withdraw your earnings from your streaming releases:

How do I review trends in my earnings payouts?

1. Go to your Dashboard. Make sure you are viewing your "Artist" dashboard by clicking the dropdown menu under your user name.

2. Locate the Artist Performance section. Then click the "My Earnings" button. In the performance chart, you can see monthly totals of the earnings of your releases.

3. To view a more detailed breakdown, click on the View Transactions button or the right-arrow icon to expand the charts for a more detailed view.

Note: If you don't see any royalty earnings yet on your dashboard for your released music, there are a few possible reasons:

When are streaming royalty earnings payouts available?

While EngineEars receives monthly consolidated earnings reports from streaming platforms and digital stores, the timeframe of these consolidated earnings reports are generally on a 2-3 month delay. However, some platforms and stores report earnings only 1-2 times a year, so their earnings may be delayed further.

This means that approximately 3 months after your release has gone live, the stream counts that your release has accrued will begin to be reflected in monthly earnings reports for the streaming platforms and stores that have reported these earnings to us.

For example, if your release goes live in January and starts accruing streams immediately, you can expect to see January's streaming royalty earnings show up a couple months later, in March or April.

Sell Direct Earnings Payouts: Earnings from direct sales of your music sold on your EngineEars profile page as a Sell Direct release are available for withdrawal 7 days after the transactions take place. You are able to see these Direct Sales transactions immediately in your account after the purchases are processed.

How do I setup Stripe so I can collect earnings from music releases and sales?

If you have not yet set up Stripe for your EngineEars account (and completed the required Stripe verification), you will need to do so for the earnings from your music sales and/or music streaming royalties to be deposited as a balance in your EngineEars account, once payouts have cleared. Follow these instructions to create a new Stripe account or link an existing Stripe account to your EngineEars account.

From your Account Dashboard, click on the Set up Stripe button to proceed with the setup steps for Stripe Connect in their setup portal, then follow the steps. This will enable your account to properly collect earnings from streaming royalties and/or direct sales for your music release.

After successfully submitting your info, you will need to also complete a required Stripe verification step by providing required documentation. Follow the steps in the Stripe setup portal to verify.

After your Stripe account has been fully setup and verified, it will be linked to your EngineEars account. Once your account has accrued an earnings balance from royalties and/or sales, you can withdraw the balance to your banking institution (net of commission fees, if any).

  1. Go to your Dashboard, and make sure you are viewing your "Artist" dashboard
  2. Go to the Balance section on your dashboard. Your available balance will be displayed here. If the balance shows $0.00, it means there are no earnings yet or are delayed based on reporting schedules.
  3. If there are funds available to withdraw, click the Cash Out button.
  4. You can also click the arrow icon in the Balance section to open the Balance drawer and see a detailed view of your transactions, where you can download or review a complete list of your earnings, royalty payouts, EngineEars Sell Direct payouts, and cash outs.
  5. Once you choose to cash out, the funds will be transferred to your linked bank account.

Payout Processing Times

Once the Cash Out process has been initiated to withdraw a balance to your linked banking institution, you can generally expect the following:

  • Payouts with Stripe Express are typically instant, meaning funds are available immediately after cash out.
  • However, processing times may vary depending on your bank or country, and it could take 1-2 business days for the funds to appear in your bank account.
