Music Video Distribution with EngineEars: Requirements & Guidelines

EngineEars supports music video distribution to major music and video platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, XITE, VEVO, and YouTube.

Music video distribution is currently handled manually through the EngineEars Support Team.

What Types of Music Videos Can I Distribute?

EngineEars supports the following video types:

• Official Video
• Official Lyric Video
• Official Audio
• Official Visualizer
• Official Trailer
• Official Live Video

Not every platform accepts every type of video.

YouTube and VEVO support a broader range of music-related video content, while other DSPs maintain stricter video-content requirements.

Music Video Cover Requirements

Each music video submission must include a cover image.

File Format

• JPEG (.jpeg)
• PNG (.png)

Accepted Dimensions

• 1280 x 720 px
• 1920 x 1080 px
• 3840 x 2160 px
• 4096 x 2160 px

Maximum File Size

• 15 MB

Minimum Video File Requirements

Unless a platform has additional requirements, submitted videos must meet the following minimum specifications:

• File Format: MPEG4 (.mp4) or MOV (.mov)
• Compression: H.264 or ProRes 422 HQ
• Frame Rate: Minimum 23.98 fps
• Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (1080p) or 3840 x 2160 (4K)
• Audio Bitrate: Minimum 192 kB/s

Distributing to Apple Music? Apple has additional technical requirements. Review [Apple Music Video Distribution Requirements] before exporting your final video.

What Cannot Be Included in My Music Video?

The following elements are strictly prohibited:

• Chyrons or lower-third credits, whether scrolling or still
• Beginning or end slates, unless specifically approved by VEVO
• Countdown clocks
• Album or single in-store dates
• Promotional slates
• External URLs or links
• References directing viewers to social media, artist websites, digital retailers, or other external platforms

This includes links or references to services such as social media platforms, artist websites, iTunes, Amazon, or similar external destinations.

Before You Submit

Make sure you are submitting your final approved version.

Videos that do not meet the required technical or content guidelines may be rejected or require a replacement file before they can be delivered.
