      I'm a studio, how do I take on the payment fees for my client?

      Taking on client payment fees as a Studio.

      If you want to absorb the platform service fees (3.5%-5%) on behalf of your client so that your client only pays the listed hourly rate on a session booking, you can do one of the following:

       

      Always take on client payment fees

      Tip: Use this option if you want to take on client fees by default for every session booking transaction for all clients.

      To absorb client payment fees for every session booking transaction by default, you can enable the "Always take on client payment fees" Advanced Setting within your Studio Room Rate when configuring your studio room's service package.

       

      1. Go to your Studio Profile.

       

      2. Click on a studio room within your studio profile

       

      3. Click the "Edit Studio Rate" button

       

      4. Scroll to the bottom and locate the "Always take on client payment fees" setting, and toggle it to ON. 

      By default, this setting will charge the fees to the Studio's payout for the room service instead of charging the artist at checkout, resulting in the Order Total being the same as the listed price for the room.

       

      5. (Optional) Repeat the above steps for other studio rooms if you want to absorb client fees for every session booking transaction for your studio.

       

      Notes:

      • To absorb client payment fees for every session booking transaction by default for ALL your studio rooms, you will need to enable this setting for every studio room.
      • If you Generate a Session Booking Link, and you want to disable absorbing client fees for the session booking, you can use the "Take on client payment fees" toggle on the Generated Booking link. This will override your default Advanced Setting for the studio room and pass the fees onto your client for the specific session booking transaction.

       

      Take on client payment fees (one-off)

      Tip: Use this option if you want to take on client fees only for a single session booking transaction, or only on a one-off basis for a specific session booking or a specific client. 

      To absorb client payment fees for an individual session booking transaction, you can use the "Take on client payment fees" toggle when creating a Generated Session Booking link for your client.

       

      1. Generate a Session Booking for your client by clicking 'Generate Booking' from your Dashboard.

      Refer to these steps for more details on how to generate a booking link.

       

      2. Fill out all of the details of your session and click on the toggle to 'take on client payment fees' to ON next to Order Summary. 

       

      This option will charge the fees to the Studio's payout for the room service instead of charging the artist at checkout, resulting in the Order Total being the same as the listed price for the room.

       

      3. Share your booking link to your client by emailing the booking link or copying the link

       

      FAQs

      • If my studio has multiple rooms, do I have to enable the "Always take on client payment fees" Advanced Setting for each studio room to absorb client fees for every booking by default?
        • Yes. This "Always take on client payment fees" Advanced Setting applies to the Studio Room Rate for each room in your studio facility. If you want all studio room bookings to unilaterally take on client payment fees, you will need to apply this setting to every studio room to ensure consistency.
      • If I have the "Always take on client payment fees" setting enabled (ON) by default for all bookings, can I occasionally disable this for certain session bookings or particular clients?
        • Yes. Create a Generated Session Booking link, and switch the "take on client payment fees" toggle to OFF for the specific client session booking. Follow these steps to manually override your default setting for this one-off booking scenario.  
      • If I have the "Always take on client payment fees" setting disabled (OFF) by default for all bookings, can I occasionally enable this for certain session bookings or particular clients?
        • Yes. Create a Generated Session Booking link, and switch the "take on client payment fees" toggle to ON for the specific client session booking. Follow these steps to manually override your default setting for this one-off booking scenario.
      • Who absorbs the client payment fees in the following booking scenarios?
        • Studio Room takes on client fees enabled (ON) and Recording Engineer takes on client fees enabled (ON)
          • Fee is absorbed by the Studio from the room rate
        • Studio Room takes on client fees enabled (ON) and Recording Engineer takes on client fees disabled (OFF)
          • Fee is absorbed by the Studio from the room rate
        • Studio Room takes on client fees disabled (OFF) and Recording Engineer takes on client fees enabled (ON)
          • Fee is charged to the client for the session booking
        • Studio Room takes on client fees disabled (OFF) and Recording Engineer takes on client fees disabled (OFF)
          • Fee is charged to the client for the session booking
      • Can I still use discounts and price overrides along with taking on client payment fees?
        • Yes. Any % discounts, promo codes or price overrides applied for a session booking will be calculated to reduce the order total, regardless of taking on client payment fees (essentially a fee discount applied to nullify service fee charges).
      • Does this setting work with other billing currencies?
        • Yes. Whether you bill bookings in USD, CAD, GBP, or EUR currencies, you can optionally choose to absorb client fees for your services.
