How Do Pre-Save Campaigns Work?
A pre-save campaign lets fans save your release to their Spotify or Apple Music library before it's actually out, so it's automatically added to their library and starts showing up in their listening the moment it goes live.
You'll find the Pre-save campaign toggle under Streaming Options in the Release Dates section of Release Information.
- When enabled, fans can visit your release page before your streaming release date and save it to their Spotify and Apple Music libraries.
- Pre-saves help build momentum ahead of release day. Streams and saves that happen the moment a release goes live can meaningfully improve its chances of algorithmic playlist placement, since platforms read early engagement as a signal of demand.
- This is separate from a Direct-to-Fan pre-order, which lets fans purchase your release directly before it's available; pre-saves are specifically for streaming platforms and don't involve a purchase.
If you want to run a pre-save campaign, make sure it's enabled with enough lead time before your streaming release date for fans to find and save your release before it goes live.
